Fire needs oxygen to exist so the flame from the candle does need a nice bit of air flow. The top openings may not be enough so having a space between the bottle and whatever they are sitting on will keep them lit throughout your event. Try decorative, metal trivets. They are beautiful and will not take away from the elegance. Leave the labels on to show your taste or remove them for a sleek look.

By placing the trivets underneath the bottle the flame can breath so your light will not dwindle. If there is not enough oxygen flow (the two candle images on the right of the photo), the flame will die. (Image: ekShiksha)
